Is there some autoexec file or coding that I can use to make my home videos run whenever they are put into a PC or DVD player. The fromat is .avi. I would like to make movies of my video clips I make and give them away to friends and family as gifts. Who wants something that you have difficulty with finding out whats on it. I need information on how home videos are autoexecuted without assistance.

My husband leaves his pc on for DAYS at a time and I am wondering if this is harmful to the life of the pc and it's components. It's just on for the sake of being on, he's not downloading/uploading/running programs. I'm concerned that he may be shortening the life expectancy of an otherwise perfectly healthy, virus free pc...lol. Please tell me what damage if any, is done by running home computers for DAYS and even WEEKS at a time with no shutdown.

Hasn't been used for a few months and now the screen display is really dar - can hardly be seen. I've tried adjusting the sttings but this doesn't work. Any ideas as to what it could be & how to fix it?

It's never been used online or connected to other devices, so can't be a virus problem....

I have a script (run as root) that then logs in as a user (oracle) to start up the database on the server. Then logs in as another user (testmgr) to load up the oracle application server on the box.

The script is:

I get the Suspended (tty output) right after it prints out "Done with DB"
If I type "fg" then it runs properly.

I've run out of ideas... anyone got solutions?

It seems lately when I point and click at something, my mouse points, and I click, I see the "button" on the screen depress, but nothing happens.

I'll click again and it works. Could the problem be my mouse or perhaps something within my computer? I'm not versed in puter language so please be kind lol.

I was on it and it froze, so I attempted to turn it off because I couldn't do anything. I pressed the button and the screen went black, but all the little lights on it are still on, including the one that shows that it's running on the battery, meaning it definetly is still on.
If I hold down the power button, it either or beeps or the cd drive will light up, but that's it. The screen remains completely black no matter what I do.
I did notice before it froze that it was running off the battery, even though I had the power cord plugged in.
Ahhh what's wrong with it :(

I love Firefox but I need help with an extension. It's called download helper. It downloads vids from sites like youtube..ect.
I'm not a computer genius so don't laugh but do you need a special media player to play these? I have never done this so I am totally lost. When I attempt to play the vids, nothing ever happens.

Whjyu is it that everytime I try to connect the Log me In software it starts to connect and then it says ready to use but then goes to disconnect after about 6-10seconds. Why is this? Does anybody know?Thank You.

My hard disk is split into two - h:/ for program files and c:/ for the operating system.

I want to change the ratio slightly so that there is more space on the c: drive, but I can't do it from Disk Management, and somebody told me that I can't do it at all without reformatting.

If I did, can I format the c:/ part of the drive without harming the contents of h:/ ?

Good morning .

I am accessing a remote server via putty and started a weblogic server by using a script and placed that job in background using the & after the script name.The
weblogic script is running now.The problem I am facing is,I want to exit out of that specific putty session.But,I still want the weblogic server which was started by that script to be still running.When I try to exit out of the session by typing,"exit",the shell reminds me saying that,I still have some jobs running.

host1: /opt/testdomain/3.0> jobs -l
[1] + 18889 Running ./startWebLogic.sh&
host1: /opt/testdomain/3.0>

Now,how do I exit the putty session and still have the weblogic server running.The last time,I exited the putty session I remember the weblogic server process dying out.I cant afford this now as this is a development box.

Please suggest.

Any help appreciated.
