It depends on the specs of ur Network(LAN)card most Lan card comes with specs. 10/100 means it can connect to the internet or any network with a connectivity speed ranging 10 to 100 Mbps. so even if ur Laptop is a celeron or a Pentium II processor with 32 or 64 MB ram it will be able to cope up with the speed. If ur Specs dosent meet these requirements you may still be able to work nicely in it by degrading ur OS to win 98. Many Patches are available to support Broadband on win 98 just download them and there you go...

Pretty much anything that can connect to your broadband modem should be able to do the job (or can connect to something that is connected to your modem).

If you use a USB connection you should expect to need something a bit more beefy but even a computer with less than a half gigahertz processor can handle that (anything built this decade shouldn't have too much trouble).

depending on what modem you have it either needs a) a wireless car b) a RJ45 network card or c) a usb slot, recommended would be anything with more than 1Ghz CPU and 512MB of ram, assuming you just want it for internet
