adding another phone jack? We only get dial up if that matters. It's not convient to just run an extenstion cord from the current jack. I don't know anything about routers; is that what I need?

I am using Windows XP SP2, im just wondering why it always scan my (SLAVE) hard drive (NTFS) everytime i'm rebooting even though i shut down my machine properly...

yeah, the message said that it will scan due to "inconsistency..." whatever... and not from improper shutdown..

it will undergo 3 scan operation (index, security descriptor...etc)

I've reformat my SYSTEM DRIVE (not the drive that i've mentioned above) before because of that annoying problem.. thinking that the problem is in the system files itself... at first it was okay but after a less a than week, there goes the scanning again...

there is one last resort that im thinking: Reformat the SLAVE DRIVE (320GB)..but at present i don't have other 'storage device' to temporarily backup my files before reformatting...

anyone got a clear shot? pls. let me know.. tnx

When ever I go on to certain websites, some pictures just show up as white boxes with red crosses in them. It's so annoying! I read some where that pop-up blocker doesn't let the pictures show up, also that to enable them you were to go to Internet Options and then to Privacy and change the filter level. I did this and the pictures still don't show up! Can anyone help?

Were on a 512kbps DSL metered interent plan. This is fine except for when our internet usage reaches 10GB then the speed is limited to 64kbps. My flat mate downloads movies and music all the time and with a week weve maxed out the 10gb and our speed is limited to 64kbps for the rest of the month. is there anyway to bypass this limit set by the ISP

I have a wireless network at home with a wireless linksys router that is connected to my main pc using Windows XP, I have a second desktop with a wireless USB device using XP also. Both of these computers are connected to a home network that I have set up and have no problems with file and internet sharing. I recently bought a new laptop that is wireless ready and it came with Windows Vista home edition. I connected to my home network, entered int he security code and the laptop connects fine to my network automatically and goes online fine. The problem I am having is, I cant seem to perform any file sharing with this laptop. When I go into the network section it is only showing the laptop and neither of the 2 desktops using XP which are named differently on the network. This is my first time using Vista so I am wondering if I am missing something. The main desktop has the my docs section set for sharing also.

I have a home network set up with 4 computers. Each computer connects to the internet through the router but we share a printer over the network. Were on a metered internet plan but one of my flat mates goes through all our usage in about a week. Is it possible to disconnect his PC from the network from my computer when he is doing this with high internet usage. Then allow him to connect back on when I no longer need to go on the internet

Hi

The size of my current PC is starting to frustrate me so I am toying with the idea of downgrading size to a shuttle/cub pc.

I currently use a DFI-Lan party Ultra D which has been a superb motherboard, however i dont really use it to its full poitential and am thinking of ditching the amd 3000+ Processor and going for a Dual Core 3800.

I want to find a board that is reliable and represents good value - I understand that overlcoing pcs in shuttle pcs is a no go hence the idea to upgrade to a dual core and keep it at the locked speeds.

If anyone has an info it would be much appreciated.

I bought a netgear wireless started router- i have a bt home hub downstairs and wanted the netgear router upstairs so i wud get a better connnection on xbox live, i have the extension cable which runs upstairs, its confusing yep, but if i have the home hub upstairs n downstairs it works bt the netgear router only works upstairs it cnt connect to the line from upstairs for some strange reason, so does anybody know how i cud get he hub and router working plz 10 points to the best annswer xxx

I am on AOL. I believe that when you send an email to someone, there is a code you can type on the email that means when the other person reads the email, you get a return receipt telling you that they have opened it. How do I get it to do that? I know that there is a tick box at the bottom of the email showing return receipt, but that only seems to work with other AOL users and I need it for other ISPs as well.

Hello i have windows vista home premium with 1 gb of ram and 40 gb of free memory and also intel pentium dual core processor what happened right is that i have downloaded adobe after effect from the original site. I have extracted their files on my folder when i open the files to run setup. The setup menu comes for a second then dissapears what can i do to make it run properly and install it properly please help its kind of urgent.
