go to majorgeeks.com Look for a program called winaso registry cleaner. Install that. You can scan your pc for viruses and a huge amount of other stuff including optimze your pc for better performance. I love this site it is free to download these programs. I would also consider ccleaner. It erases cookies and will also speed up your system. Lots of luck to you, if you want a direct link to these sites i can email them to you upon request.

You can't do too much more. One thing you could do is stop a bunch of programs from uselessly running at startup and thus eating up your resources for no reason, and slowing down startup time.
Go Start>run>msconfig In this window go to the Startup tab.
Using http://www.sysinfo.org/startuplist.php as a guide, enter in each startup programs name into that system and see if it is useful or not. Uncheck all those you don't need.
Use the key:
"Y" - Normally leave to run at start-up (leave check)
"N" - Not required or not recommended - typically infrequently used tasks that can be started manually if necessary (should uncheck)
"U" - User's choice - depends whether a user deems it necessary (uncheck unless you think you really need it)
"X" - Definitely not required - typically viruses, spyware, adware and "resource hogs" (definitely uncheck)
"?" - Unknown (leave checked)
And if you aren't sure about a startup program (if it falls under U), you can always recheck it later, or you can just leave it checked.

How much RAM do you have - and can you add more? Run a checkup by Crucial to check that. Then run a complete computer check by Belarc Advisor to tell you EVERY thing on your computer. There may be old programs, games, ISP's, other things like that, that you've forgotten. Remove everything that isn't necessary, or that you don't use. Offload it onto to CD's or DVD's if you have the burners to do that. Free up disk space, then defrag.
