No.

Where a router has its own firewall, you can leave Windows Firewall enabled. It's not unusual to have 2 firewalls on the system especially configured as you are.

No need. They work quite happily side by side, even on Vista.

You have probably heard it is not a good idea to have 2 firewalls, but that is 2 software firewalls on the same PC. The Netgear router is effectively a computer in it's own right and nothing of its firewall runs on your PC, so it is best to run your computers firewall too.

Absolutely not. The firewall your router has is very weak relative to Windows firewall. Think of your router's firewall as a screen door. It keeps the bugs out but won't do any good against any burglar.

1. Don't announce the SSID of your wireless router.
2. Use WPA2-PSK if you can. WPA-PSK if not, or WEP at the least.
3. Put the MAC addresses of all of your computers into the MAC routing table of your wireless router and ONLY ALLOW from the addresses in the table of the wireless router.
4. Turn the SPI firewall of the wireless router ON.
5. Filter anonymous or incomplete packets.

In most cases the router firewall keeps out the intruders and the Windows firewall is only redundant. You really do not need the Windows firewall unless other LAN users cannot be trusted.

no i would not disable the software firewall, i also use a netgear router and still use my comodo firewall for extra security. i know you should only use one firewall but that means software firewalls, it is perfectly safe to use a software firewall and a hardware firewall (router firewall)

No, only disable your windows firewall if you install some other firewall (like Norton) on your PC.

Not necessary...Both can work together...
Windows Firewall is actually a very basic firewall until one knows what all to block and what to allow..

Not advisable. You wouldn't lock your front door and leave the back door unlocked would you?

Windows Firewall doesn't use a lot of system resources. Best leave it be.
