Anyone out there who can help me? I'm computer illiterate. Need help cleaning up my desktop(I think) Ok my computer is really slow and everytime I try to shut a window I get Internet explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close sorry for the inconvience. What should I do?

sometimes when I open other programs (i don't know how to call them)like a page of internet explorer or even when i listen to music using real player...sometimes a chart or a board appears saying that "windows has encountered a problem/an error and has to close the thingy" and after i get rid of the box my program closes itself whatever i'm doing...
I don't know if you understood...
What could it be,where's the problem,is it fixable?

I have Windows Vista and my Word program has worked for the three months I have had this computer, but today when I try to type a little thing in the corner says that "This modification is not allowed because the selection has been locked." Even existing documents won't let me edit.

Can anyone help me fix this? Please and thank you!

God so kind I was not in town when the incident occurred, the plans of the REBELS is to kill every members of our family so that no one will rise up to revenge as time goes on. I am in our country without any one knowing it so that the unknown REBELS will not get me and kill me like they killed all the members of our family. Why I am still staying here in our country is to transfer the total sum of $4.5million U.S.dollars which, my late father deposited in the custody of a leading bank here in Abidjan, he deposited the fund with the name of my younger brother who was killed in the riot as the next of KIN while he used the name of one of his foreign partner as the beneficiary of the fund because he wanted to transfer the fund abroad before his untimely death.

Before the death of my father in one of the private hospital, he gave me the covering documents of the fund deposits in the Bank, as I am his first daughter and he so much loved me with trust that was why he handed this documents to me for safe keeping and advised me to look for a good person abroad who will transfer the fund for me so that I can leave this country.

Currently the amount in the bank which I am having the documents is $4.5m U.S.D. Right now I wish to transfer this fund to you so that you will assist me leave this country and to invest the money into any viable sector in your country, also you will help me to join you in your country for me to start up a new life with you there immediately the fund gets to your account as I am willing to continue with my education too.

Since I am no longer safe as far as Africa is concern at the moment, I wanted to transfer the fund before leaving the country because this fund is my last hope and the only hope I have now. I don't know how we will go about it but I hope hearing from you before I can know which decision to make next. I will like you to stand as the foreign beneficiary of the fund, as I will officially introduce you as the new beneficiary to enable the bank transfer this fund to your name to your country from here before I come to join you. Like I said, all I need from you is your kindness and sincererity in all we do, I will be willing to trust all this into your care provided you promised taking care of me because I don't have anyone to run to.

Before I even pick you to assist me I have prayed and slept over it asking God to provide for me a Godly minded person that will assist me in this transaction that was the reason why l am sending you this email today. I will give you more details and also the bank information in my next email. Including the documents and also my pictures.

in a nut-shell, I'd like to have a cell populated with something that the user inputs.

I'd like to have a box pop up like, "Type in the name of the person you want to assign this work to:" Then the user types in a name, and that name is saved to a variable and used later on in the spreadsheet.

I am using the bourne scripting langauge and would like to be able to set the "wc -l" (line count) as a variable in my script. can this be done?

I want to be able to make a for loop ranging from one going until the value returned as the line count. i tried
for ((i=1;i=wc -l;i=i+1))

but it doesnt seem to work. the logical conclusion is that i need to set the value which would be returned from the wc -l command as a variable.

Every time I launch Excel I get the following message:

Excel Message "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\xlstart\TDExcelAddin.xla" contains macros

I can click on "enable macros," but it's somewhat annoying. Any idea how to fix the issue?

After painstakingly looking for, downloading, and configuring my emulator, I finally got it working. I ran the ISO and the video and audio was going at double (probably even triple) the normal speed. This is the emulator and all the stuff that might be the cause:

Emulator: ePSXe 160
Bios: scph1001
Video plugin: Pete's OpenGL Driver 1.76
Sound plugin: ePSXe SPU core 1.5.2.
Cdrom plugin: ePSXe CDR WNT/W2K core 1.5.2.
ISO: Final Fantasy IX disk one

Do I need different plugins? Do I need to just check/uncheck some of the configuration boxes? If anyone can help it would be sooo apreciated!

Hey everyone, I have a major virus problem. How this virus managed to slip by Avast, I don't know but It did. I know I have a virus because there are many major problems with my computer now.

These major problems include...
1)Almost a 4 times longer than usual startup time.
2)Xp Themes are disabled, and I'm left with the old Windows theme.
3)No sound whatsoever
4)System taskbar, and start menu are disabled.
5)System restore is disabled.
6) Widows installer is disabled (cant install .msi files)
7)Some of my anti-spyware/adware programs get locked by the system when I try to scan.
8)Nero is disabled, making it impossible to back up my media.

This is by far the WORST infection I've ever had. I would really like to save my computer/media, without having to do system restore. Any help would be appreciated.

Though most of my system tools are disabled I still do have these tools...
1)The internet
2) Avast(pretty useless)
3) A couple more useless spyware tools(Spybot, Ad-Aware, etc)

I just downloaded Limewire onto my apple computer. I'm very concerned about viruses and stuff like that because if anything happens to this computer my parents would kill me, lol. I've heard both ways, that macs don't get viruses and that it'll ruin my computer.
