Hi, it means you have a virus on your computer. Do a full system scan right now and heal or send to vault all of the viruses it finds.
You have probably clicked on some link without realising it is a virus, some look real like they are genuine microsoft products.
Its likely to be adware/spyware that is causing this roblem you are having, and I know exactly what you mean as I had the exact same thing. The box appears and once you have licked it, every open window on your system closes itself.
Good luck and if you can't work out whatto do repost your qustion as there are lots of real pc boffins in here.
In future make sure you have a good virus protection and you can download AVG for free from www.download.com and the firewall on that is great, stops all that cra* coming thru the system. Anti virus is easy o ue, just make sure everything is turned on and set to automatically update itself.
Good luck

Either there is a hardware or a software problem, or you have picked up a virus or a trojan.
First, you need to try to clean up your computer.
(1) Stop using the Internet Explorer and switch to either Opera or Firefox web browsers. Use Thunderbird for your email. Download and install those first.
(2) Download, install and run these to get rid of any viruses and trojans and such (if you have Symantec, Panda, McAfee or any other type of antivirus, remove it, it doesnt work as good as these do):
Comodo Firewall (free)
Comodo AntiVirus (free)
Comodo BOClean (free)
CounterSpy (trial)
XoftSpy (trial)
AdAware
(3) If you have some extra cash, purchase, download and install and run Registry Mechanic, Spy Protector and Security Task Manager - this will clean up any errors in your registry and protect your system from keyloggers.
(4) Using Internet Explorer, go to the Windows Update website and download and install all the current updates. The WindowsUpdate is under the "Tools" menu.
(5) Using Firefox, go to http://www.microsoft.com/mediaplayer/ and download and install the latest version of the Microsoft Windows Media Player.
(6) Using Firefox, go to http://www.microsoft.com/directx/ and download the latest version of DirectX. Install this.
(7) Go to http://yatoshi.com/en/index.php and download the latest version of the Satsuki Decoder Pack and install it.
(8) Finally, go here and buy the Driver Guide Toolkit (free to try, but to make it work you have to buy it). http://www.driverguidetoolkit.com/ This tool will automate searching for and updating your hardware drivers to the current version.
Once this is all done, all of the software on your computer should hopefully be back to a good starting point, and hopefully any crashes you have will stop. If not, you may have to re-install Microsoft Office or Microsoft Works from the original discs, and then visit the Windows Update website again to get the updates for those programs again.
If even after that there is still a problem, it may be a hardware problem. Then it is time to take the computer into a reputable repair shop - but it may be cheaper to buy a brand new computer from a 3rd party shop somewhere.

Usually we just call them programs. Whether its Internet Explorer, Real Player, or something else.
Usually when a box appears on the screen we call it a message box. I have seen the message box you are talking about before, one that says that it needs to close the program, and it also asks whether you want to send a report to Microsoft, etc...
Usually that means your computer has bugs or errors, or that program itself is just corrupted by bugs or viruses. Sometimes it also means your computer is doing to many things at once and cannot run all the programs at once due to lack of memory.
I would suggest shutting down your computer, then restarting it. If the problem still persists. Try running the disk cleanup, disk defragment, and scan disk utility from the Start menu under accessories>system tools. And also running any virus detector program on your computer. If it still gives the same problem, you will need to take it to a computer technician.

Could be any number of things - a virus, two programs that don't like each other, a hardware problem, you name it. But you're probably not going to get an answer here - you need to take your computer to a professional and have it checked out. It's almost certainly fixable if the fixer knows what s/he is doing.

how many programs did you have open / running at the time this error occured? (example: you have yahoo messenger, msn messenger, a game running, listening to tunes on real player etc all at the same time) - a list of what you were doing at the time would help figure out the problem - and also what operating system you have on your pc, how much hard drive and memory your pc has!?
how often does this problem occur?
is there an error number?
is it the same program that keeps shutting down?
chances are your pc was low on memory and had to shut down one of the tasks that was draining it

I asked a computer friend after mine did that a few times and he said I didn't have enough memory. It only happens when I go to a link off the main page--it's annoying!

You should also try Start->Run->SFC /Scannow
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=310747
Also try removing "junk" files off of your computer and do some basic computer maintenance
Basic computer maintenance everyone should do

Otherwise try to log onto your computer with another profile if you don't get any errors then it could be a corrupt profile

It isn't fixable, it just means it had to close because there was a program error. Don't worry about it.

sorry for my english.
its possible when a program was instaled in a wrong way, maybe from internet, maybe from a usb memory or cd, you could remember when started the problem, did you install something.
the easy solution could be restar the computar with the rescue disc, and the computar came back like a new one, for this you need to back up your information, if dont you will lost it.
