Does anyone know if those audiobook CDs you can get from the library can be ripped in iTunes and then importing onto an iPod?

I have a Dell now, it's a little over 3 years old. We just spent about $400 fixing it- that included removing viruses and something to do with a "heat sink". Now it is having problems again, seemingly heat related- it keeps turning itself off, and when we try to turn it on again, we get an alert about a fan problem and a thermal problem. The computer cost about $1,200 to begin with, so I'm hesitant to drop another $400 for repairs if this is going to be a recurring problem.

Can anyone recommend a computer that has lasted long and been reliable? It will be used by two grad students, so all we'll really need it for is writing papers, creating slideshow presentations for lectures, and connecting to the internet.

Or do they slow it down. I just bought a NetGear router with 54 Mbps . My internet seems faster since I have installed it. I was also wondering if you disconnect your router and just run your cable modem directly to the computer will it work or does the router change your connection settings when you install it? I only bought this router so I could hook up my Playstation 2 to it.

Ive linked my laptop, and desktop (through netgear router) and set up a home network. I can access shared documents, including the bareshare downloads file (C:my dowloads) to get music from the desktop to play on the laptop.
However, only some tracks play (the same one's with either windows media player, or Creative media player) and noticeably, these are the ones without track duration times, extra details.
The details are present, (mostly) on the desktop computer. Even tracks (only a few) that dont have extended info, play on the desktop.
Why is some extended info missing when accessed via network, and why wont these tracks play? its about 50% of the 100 or so tracks

I'm getting a laptop for my 18th birthday and I know it will be mainly used for graphics and internet, so what would be a good amount of memory and what not. What company do you recommend because I've heard stories of these cheap laptops but no memory. So how much is too little? Any advice you could give on a good computer would be great

I have Emachine T2542 and I just bought new Emachine T3504. I want to use T2542s hard disk as master disk of new T3504 and new hard disk as slave. I did all hardware part(change jumper setting and set bios as auto detect.....) but computer(windows) is not starting.

Whenever i download any .avi file and try playing it on either real one or windows media player, it says it requires codec bt den fails to download it. I got DivX installed as well, but it just plays the audio, video doesn't appear. And not all .avi files can be broken, atleast some should play... but none does !!!
Help!!!
PS; i usually download .avi using limewire or Ares.
