there is a special CDs, which haves a tiny little brush for brushing a CD Driver's lens. Try buying one, and put the CD to clean the lens eye.
Personally though, I don't think the problem is because the lens is dirty. I think it might be driver problem or a conflict.

well. your writer can write the empty Cd's because it has no scratches .when you insert other disk it can not read the CD because of some scratches. solution of Ur problem is purchase the lens cleaner with alcohol and follow the instructions of it . that's it

Pick up a lens cleaning disk at Walmart or Radio Scrap (Shack), Best Buy or Circuit City.

Pretty much nothing can be done about the lense... besides it would be more expensive than just going out and purchasing a new CD/RW Drive.

are these cds your burning read in other computers because it sounds like to me you are burning coasters, will it read other cds that came with your system, you may need to reload your burning software
