If you have Yahoo messenger you can just click that little phone thing and type in address or phone number...sorry, that's the only way I know how to do it.

Skype is a very simple but powerful PC-to-PC telephoning system. Download the installation programme from http://www.skype.com/download/skype/windows/helloagain.html for the latest version 2.5. Install the software and attach a good headphone or a Skype compatible USB phone.
On the Skype software, you will add all your contacts (use their Skype registered names) so that you can make PC-to-PC calls to them - IT IS ALL FREE.
If you are willing to pay some token, then call your contact normal telephone lines from your Skype setup. You can purchase the credit for it online.
There other options such as Yahoo! Messenger with voice, among others.

You can try Yahoo messenger or (my preference) Skype. With Skype, you sign up for a username, then you can dial any phone number or any other Skype user by their username. So you can make calls to people on regular phones too, not just PCs.
All it requires is that your PC has broadband access of some sort (cable or DSL), speakers and a decent sound card. It's easy to use, and it's free!
Go to the Skype webpage to download:
