I'm getting a laptop for my 18th birthday and I know it will be mainly used for graphics and internet, so what would be a good amount of memory and what not. What company do you recommend because I've heard stories of these cheap laptops but no memory. So how much is too little? Any advice you could give on a good computer would be great

I am a graphic designer and you do NOT want a laptop! You want to get a iMAC computer. I have an iMAC G5 19" Wide/Flat screen. It is amazing the graphics are dynamic. A laptop will never hold all the memory that you will eventually need. With all the Adobe software you need (InDeign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) and all the fonts, logos and graphic that you will accumalate, you need a actual computer. That's what I was told when I started out because I wanted a laptop at first too.

A decent memory for day to day use is 512MB, but as you says, you're gonna use it for Graphic Designing. About 1GB is a minimum for graphic designing (well, if you're a bit tight on budget you could still choose 512 MB, which should be decent enough for graphic).

(and get a good processor, if possible a mobile processor, which would extend battery time. Get one that can use a wi-fi connection since you're gonna use it for Internet)

Get a decent VGA card.

Also, as vgkhj... said, it might be great if you also have a desktop computers alongside with the laptop to support for the heavier designing. And a single laptop would fit filled with all Adobe's product, as long as you got a good amount of harddisk, at the minimal 40 GB (80 GB is preferred).
