Does anyone know if those audiobook CDs you can get from the library can be ripped in iTunes and then importing onto an iPod?

Yes. The files in audiobooks are the same format as the files used for music (they just didn't hire a band). So you can do anything with a audiobook file that you could do with a music file (except dance to it).
