I want to use Cubase and other music software to create music tracks. I am looking to build a PC for this and I don't know what the best processor would be. I have been looking on the following site to compare pentium D versus pentium 4: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/cpu/charts

I notice that for video editing tasks the pentium D tends to win, however for photo editing tasks, the pentium 4 comes out on top. What will be best for Cubase and other music production software?

P.S. Core 2 Duo is outwith my budget!

I'll explain what I'm trying to accomplish. In a nutshell, I'm trying to record video from one computer, from the other. My setup that I have is Computer A (which is a laptop), and Computer B, which is a normal computer tower and a LCD monitor. Computer A, the laptop, is what I will be controlling and will be the one that is recorded FROM. Computer B's monitor needs to be able to show what is happening on itself, to setup the recording to start, then to switch to show the laptop's screen, recording from that. What do I need to do?

I have a basic Cable/DSL internet connection. Per my cable company, I should be running at approximately 1.5 MB/s. Yet, if I'm downloading music or movies the highest speed I can get is 30KB/s. Any ideas on how to speed it up or what might be slowing it down? Any input would be much appreciated! Thank you!

I had no virus protection when NorBTok attacked (there wsa Norton, but it was recently damaged). I have removed most of the associated files with the virus, and made some Registry changes.

However, the virus detects and window/file with VIRUS in the name, and closes it down. It's also closing down related info pages on Symantec and other popular anti-virus sites... I can't run any anti-virus.

Which registry value must I re-set so that this virus can't close windows/files with the word VIRUS in them? I know the answer is in the registry.... which I have been able to open...
