If you erase the hard drive wihout a cd how are you going to reinstall windows wih out a cd? if pre installed windows on yor hard drive do the following
start the computer open windows explorer click on tools on the menu bar at the top/folderoptions/view/selectshowhiddenfiles/untickbox hide
protected operating system files you will see the hidden folders on your system then look for a folder in windows named options or preinstall if you have this open the folder and click on the setup.exe file windows will then reinstall itself at the instalation screen when it reboots pick repair windows leave file system as it is this will re install windows but leave your files as they are on the computer you will still need your serial number to re install you will only loose any updates that you installed and that was with out a cd or a floppy drive

you can use a floppy. did you make a backup floppy when you installed windows? you might be able to find it on the internet somewhere. for instance, i have a floppy here that is for 98 setup. you put it in upon startup of your computer and it will go into dos mode. there you can reformat your hard drive. if you aren't talking about reformatting, just erasing stuff off of your hard drive, you will need to do that through windows.

One way is to use a bootable floppy disk and run fdisk.
Other way is to see if you have an option in BIOS to format.
Third option is to take it out and attach to another computer, and then erase it. The third options is easiest, provided someone lends you a hand and a pc to do it.

If it has a floppy drive, create a bootable disk. www.Bootdisk.com will have the files you need.
Go into your BIOS settings, make sure your floppy drive is in your boot sequence, then boot the computer with the floppy. From there, all you should need to do is type "format c:" at the prompt.

Do you have an external drive with Windows XP installed on it? Reboot the computer using the external drive and then you can reformat the hard drive you want to reformat. Good luck.

there is no longer something as properly up in case you haven't any longer any OS. Formatting is in comparison to commonplace deleting. once you delete a document many times it is no longer long gone till yet another document takes the gap that the unique document held on the stressful force. this is many times retrievable with the utility which you got it is its objective. yet once you format, you empty all of the gap of your stressful force and wipe each thing there is no going back. So all there is to do is placed a clean OS on and start up throughout. Sorry for you.
