I believe my company has a program monitoring my computer. Can they access my yahoo mail account and read my mail?

they could. you need to download ad-aware or some other anti-spyware software. it will delete any of that stuff. also make sure for the future that you have a firewall in place. that will prevent a lot of that kind of stuff from coming in.

I'm guessing that you're referring to the computer you use at work as opposed to a computer at home.

If your work computer is on a network (which it probably is) then they can access every file on your computer and can quite easily remotely watch what you're doing just as easily as if they were stood next to you.

If it's a large organisation or you're handling sensitive information or customers personal data then they will probably have a system in place which logs everything that is done. This will log all usernames, passwords, personal e-mails, webpages visited - the lot.

Ordinarily they cannot access your private e-mail but it's quite probable that there's a clause in your contract to the effect that whatever you do in work time is your company's business and you're effectively allowing them to access your personal e-mails, files etc.

Most companies can and do monitor their employee's computer activity including internet activities performed on computers used in the workplace. They would see that you do go to Yahoo Mail. If you have messages saved on your computer, yes they could read them. If they have to go to Yahoo mail website, they would not be able to actually enter into your Yahoo mail and read your messages because that would require them to enter your user name and password.

If they suspected you of illegal activities within your Yahoo Mail messages sent/received on your workplace computer, they would have report their suspicions to a law enforcement agency who would then subpoena Yahoo. A very complex procedure.

Not through the spyware, but they can get your password and then just log into Yahoo as you and do wahtever they want from their own computer. So you need to clean the computer.

Check for spyware. Run both Ad-aware (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/) and Skybot (http://www.safer-networking.org/) to remove any spyware. Run both as one may caught something the other missing. Then go to microsoft.com and download Defender to protect against future infections. All three are free.

Theoretically, they can, as they have a keystroke logger. However, they will need good reason to, and depending on their policies, may or may not do so. First, look at what type of company you work for. If you are working for a large securities firm or bank, then the monitoring may be stricter. if you work for a dot.com start up, chances are less that you are being monitored.

Companys have the right to monitor where you go on the Internet when you are using their equipment and their Internet Connection. If you don't want anyone from work to know where you browse then do that from home. Unless they have a keylogger they will not have your yahoo log in info. but they will know you where there and how long.

hi, perhaps you can try Norton to remove the virus. but you need to pay for the software.

i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can disable all virus to run, because the virus can only run on IE.

besides, firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.

firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.

download firefox for free:

No they would have to have your username and password. Unless you have your browser saving that information your username and password are safe.

If you have Yahoo set to automatically sign in just change your password and tell your computer not to save the information.
