OK my old speakers and sound card were crappy so I assumed it was their fault that I had weird crackly noises. Well I got a new sound card and new speakers but they have crackly noises too! I can hear my mouse wheel turning and I can hear my mouse scrolling over the Windows menus through the speakers. They're more pronounced when I have the volume up but a lot of programs are really quiet so that really exacerbates the problem. What can I do to fix this? I have my CD player volume all the way down in the volume control because I know that makes noises when the CD is spinning but what else can I do?

im building a conputer and it turns on and the fans work but the cd drive and floppy drive (posibley other suff to but i cant tell right now) wont work when it is connected to the motherboard but it does work when it is only connected to the power (when i unplug it from the mother board) and the monitor says there is no signal when it is pluged in. Is something boken or incompatable or did i plug something in wrong

i have loads of music videos but they are all diffferent volume levels. some are really low noise and some are really loud. i can adjust them all one by one but this will take a few weeks. is there anything that can make the whole folder/all videos normalize to the same level for me?

I'm tired of borrowing my kid's computers which are probably riddled with who knows what type of threat. They will be happy to have me off their machines, too, as I have a nasty habit of removing their Limewire. For my computer, I need to feel secure with on-line banking, have lots of room for photo editing SW, photos, movie files, etc. Verizon FIOS is going in next week. I'm thinking HP or Compaq. I have a Presario 5000, yes its kinda old >.< but I found it has 512 RAM I beleive it has SDRAM, if that means anything..

I am sorta computer savy but not when it comes to this type of stuff, well I recently got DSL and my computers slow.. I would like to upgrade more ram, I heard sometimes you have to have the same brand of ram for it to work. Can anyone please explain ram to me and what brand and type I would be looking for. Im at a loss here..
I have the pentium 4 if that makes any difference :)
