In the UK, I'd go to a Maplin store and see if they have a router that will act as a repeater for the signal. Position it in range of your pci transmitter/reciever and half way to whereever you want to reach. i have a dongle in my USB2 port effectively like your pci card sending to my router/modem and my laptop has built in wireless sending to it too. I'll give you Maplins and my website. the technical guys at Maplin are quite good.

Some WiFi PC Cards have an external antenna port. You can buy an inexpensive antenna that can dramatically increase your ability to receive WiFI signals

Theres not much you can do.

Make sure your wireless router is a G netconnection, which transfers a lot faster and are in most new wireless routers.
