To use winXp you really should have a minimum of a 900 mhz processor and 256M ram. Less will work but not very well. High speed requires an ethernet card or a USB connection (slower). Unless you meet the above you will not be happy with what you have. Note - Win2k will operate almost as well on a slower processor but there too you will be less than satisfied with the results.

Upgrades to XP from other versions is not a pretty event, even if you had a good PC.
Stick with the OS you have till you can do a hardware upgrade.
