I lost some files because of a Virus. I decided to try to recover them by overwriting my XP Pro. I can't get it to overwrite. The installation hangs up at " registering devices". It will not allow me to escape the overwrite. It hangs up everytime at "registering devices". When I try to restart it goes right back into trying to overwrite but can't. I cannot undo the partial overwrite to use my computer at all. Can anyone help? Please explain in very elementary terms as I am close to computer illiterate and completely lost !

I down loaded a manual for my vaccum off the internet and when I open the file it is written in "Note Pad" form. Does anyone know how to change that over so I can read it in plain English?

when i search "my network places" i don't see anything there while before it showed available wireless networks. i found a download for a wireless network driver on the gateway website but i don't know if that's what i need. i'm not sure what drivers are, just notice it's for a wireless network driver.

I just got my robolab 2.9 upgrade so I can run the nxt AND the rcx. But the install process wants the serial number of my version 2.0 or above. It won't take the serial number on the package it came in. My robolab 2.5.4 has only one number on it: 4179 2112 7488 Which looks like a serial number, but the install program says I'm looking for a SEVEN digit number that starts with a 4. Can someone just give me their robolab serial number? Or translate mine? I called tech support and the guy like laughed at me, said, "OH, that's a whole different world than us..." and gave me a number for some place that was, of course, closed. Is Yahoo Answers better than that?
