"Windows cannot format this disc" - what's wrong - is it the disc? The drive works, as I have other discs that work fine - this is a new batch (golding HD double sided 2MB) Or should i ditch the discs and get the new thing that plugs into the USB port? Any advice gratefully received x

I'm taking out my harddrive from my HP Compaq computer and putting it into a new case with a new motherboard and new everything. the new motherboard's chipset it different too and the processor is an athlon compared to the old celeron.. I've windows XP on that harddrive so will it work or no?? HP/Compaq did not gimme a windows XP cd they installed it on there so i don't have one but i can borrow one.. I really hope this works.. gimme some explanations ppl.. thanx a lot..Also the mobo's manufacturer is different from the old one..

ms with dvd shrink. whenever i click on ''open files'' and select where my films are located in browse for folder''. i get an error and cannot continue failed to open file ''c:/documents /phils/music downloads/video_ts.ifo the system cannot find the files specified. i get this message or simular showing whatever file i try to open. can anyone offer any advice? thanks

'm using Windows XP. I get the balloon in the lower right. I tell that not to upgrade. It downloads anyway.

Then I get the opportunity to allow it to install the upgrade I told it not to download when I shut down. If I tell it no 3 times, it now hounds me with a pop up every 5 minutes.

Since it refuses to listen, how do I kill it?

I've just installed a cd writer but I'm having problems with it. It only plays certain cd's, it won't play copied discs at all and only a handful of originals. Have I connected it right or is the drive faulty?

How can I remove a directory with a question mark in the file name? There are quite a few that were made by viruses/spyware. I cannot browse to them in Explorer, but I can get to them through the command prompt...although I cannot delete them. I try rd [dir name], but it says the syntax is incorrect.

I've decided to buy a laptop and have been lately searching for comments and reviews on the net but most of them are very confusing! Loads say Dell are great but many others say the'r terrible and the Sony reviews I read were all terrible. I know apple are the best but here nobody uses Mac!! many suggested I should buy a fujitsu siemens but the 3 siemens mobiles I bought were disasteous!

What should I get??!!
