I have a Compaq Presario S5000NX with a 2.5 Ghz celeron, with 768 MB of RAM. I use my computer for graphic intensive games.

Should I upgrade my processor (I was thinking pentium 4), or do I have enough and therefore wait until the next big thing comes out?

I have a spare laptop, windows 98. In the past year, the performance has declined terribly. If I look at System Monitor, it is almost always running close to 100%. Virus scan has not found anything, and I have run spybot and ad-aware, and they have not helped. Without a tool like XP's task manager, how can I find out what is taking up all the CPU?

on the search bar when you look up items it stores it on the search engine and whenever you enter a letter to look up something a drop down box appears beneath it with the corresponding to the first letter of whatever you looked up before looking up what your looking up now i want to know how to delete those previously looked up items

I have windows XP, generic computer. I changed the drive and cable and setting to Floppy 2 1/2, 1.44 and still get same message. (not sure if new drive is good, since I got it from another none operating computer). How can I fix this problem?

I used to be able to do it very easily but now when I go to control panel and then 'scanners and cameras' the scanner isn't even in that section. I tried looking at the help topics but it isn't helping. The printer is hooked up to my computer. I tried to also just push scan on the printer but the window that used to come up before doesn't come up.

My Laptop wont connect to the internet. When i go to Network Connections and click "repair" and it says it cant renew the IP address and to check with the person who manages the network. Which would be? I dont know if i should call a computer tech. or my internet service..? or if i can just fix it myself. Correctly maintain my filenames and directory-structure based on the tags

Automatically monitor whether I've added/deleted files to the library

Burn to DVD format

Generate random playlists based on a large assortment of criteria, including "last time played"

Record to .MP3 (or some other small-filesize) format in real-time from the soundcard, or allow for the means to quickly convert to a smaller file-size

Rip from CD

Support playback in .mp3, .wma, .flac, .ogg, and .shn formats

Automatically provide tag information when ripping from CD

Have nifty psychedelic visualizations to distract me when I should be working.

Not cost much more than $20.

I am interested in your answer, even if your recommendation doesn't match ALL of these critera.

With the impending doom and/or extreme changes the human race is supposed to undergo in December of 2012, does anyone else find this website a little unnerving?

I've been surfing the web since AOL 2.0 came out, and I've never seen a website quite like this. More importantly, if you type in 2012.com, you almost never see anyone asking questions about it.
