If your using an older computer, your USB ports might be the 1.0 version, which is slow. One solution is to add a PCI card with 2 USB ports of the 2.0 version. Otherwise, if your USB ports are the 2.0 version, your software might not be supporting the hardware. Check your Device Manager, find out what it says about your USB Controllers, and if your certain you have the 2.0 version hardware but the computer says differently, then update your drivers....Hope this helps.

It depends on the model of your computer. Computers built in the last 2 years (both Macs and PCs) are normally equipped with High-Speed USB. While they use the same USB plugs and jacks as the original USB (and work with older USB devices), the electrical power and data speeds for USB2 devices are much better. You're likely trying to use a USB2 device in an older computer with USB1 plugs. As a result, your data transfer speed will be slower. In some cases, USB2 devices cannot work on USB1 -equipped computers because there's not enough power in USB1 connectors to power the more modern device.

To resolve this, you can install a USB2 interface in your computer. If you have a desktop PC, you can add a PCI card to it that gives you the ports. A laptop PC can use a PC Card or similar credit-card sized expansion card inserted in the computer.

Alternatively, you can buy a newer PC, including any new Macintosh, which uses USB 2 as well.

You get that message when you have 1.0 or 1.1 USB ports on your computer and attempt using those with a 2.0 capable device. You will cease to get that message and also see a transfer speed increase by adding a USB 2.0 capable PCI card to your computer.

You can find a USB 2.0 PCI card here:

Instructions for intalling and using the PCI card should be included with the card itself.

You either don't have USB 2.0 ports on your computer, or you don't have the correct drivers installed. Check your manufacturer's website for updated drivers to install.

You must have an old USB 1.1 card. Upgrade to USB 2.0.
