Hiya. I just picked up a laptop, and I have a few questions about how I can get it to connect to my internet.?

Okay, I just got a Toshiba Satelite as a gift from a family friend, and I can't for the life of me get it to connect to my router/modem. I bought the ethernet card, I checked the cords, I reconnected, restarted the modem, restarted the computer, everything I can think of. Any advice?

Which is the best antivirus at present?

Can anyone tell me which is the best antivirus at present. I have Mcafee's latest version. But it is not solving my problem. When I start my graphics fan my computer's exhaust fan start making noice. But it did'nt make any problem.

BIOS Problems?

I had a corrupted BIOS so I downloaded the latest bios and installed them. All went fine with the installation of the BIOS, it then told me to reboot my pc. I did that and now I get a black screen. I know this can many different problems, but what would be the most obvious. I have tried booting with a disk to get a A: command prompt, with no luck.

Are yahoo chat rooms rigged to prevent us from meeting people locally?

I'm from So-Cal and rarely run into anyone within 20 miles of my location. Not that they're not out there, mind you, but in any random "Location" "California" room, everyone is from Fresno or Sacramento or Canada... Except for the Hoe-bots of course. I think is it intentional to prevent on-line stalkers. Any opinions?
