I had a corrupted BIOS so I downloaded the latest bios and installed them. All went fine with the installation of the BIOS, it then told me to reboot my pc. I did that and now I get a black screen. I know this can many different problems, but what would be the most obvious. I have tried booting with a disk to get a A: command prompt, with no luck.

I thnk your BIOS corrupted or dead. It may be cause by the upgrade of the wrong BIOS or actually the BIOS chip hardware is failture.

There are few ways you may do:
1) If you have a EPROM writer, you can buy a cheap BIOS from Large computer hardware store and burn a BIOS.
2) If you have a spare same machine. You can take out the BIOS chip and put it into the one that has problem
3) In the worst case, you have to replace a mother board

Good luck
