My hubby's truck, is always sliding in the drive way. Our drive way is on a hill, I thought if you put the emerngecy brake when it's not in use it won't side down the hill in the snow. Is this normal, for it to slide when not in use? The truck is 1 yr old. Were putting fire wood behind the tires.

The reason I ask this question is because I've almost been run over by cars and trucks driven by people who were talking on their cell phones. I think maybe these people need to leave their cell phone in the trunk while driving.

I have the Graco Safeseat. It was one of the twelve seats tested by CR that did poorly. I find this terrifying for two reasons: 1) Just last night I had a dream that I had a car wreck and then couldn't find my child (a dream like this has not ever happened to me before); and 2) My son loves this seat and so do I.

Does anyone else have the Graco Safeseat? What do you think of it?

Has anyone actually read the CR Article? If so, can you shed any light on this for me?

Thanks in advance!

Just seen the interview with a survivor of the crash, as a bus driver myself it does seem to be driver error but does the company hold any blame because of certain practices within the industry.

I will clarify,

Bus companies are at pains to tell drivers not to speed , there are notices at all depots to this effect, it is taken very seriously.

Junior managers supervisors etc tend to use euphemisms for "put your foot down"
i.e.- you'll be alright, you'll make it back on time or push on a bit so if anything goes wrong they can say that they did not tell the driver to go faster.

Also arriving late invariably involves passenger complaints.

Older and more experienced drivers ignore this and take the correct amount of time for the journey.

But younger or less knowledgeable drivers can feel pressurised to speed.

The management is aware of this happening, but when challenged just point out company policy.

As I said it looks like driver error but what are your views

I drive a Hyundai Elantra and it has many airbags ,one of which is in front of the passenger seat in the dashboard. I am a childminder who has to transport children in my car to various nurseries/ schools and I was wondering is there a way to switch off (temporarily) the airbag so I can fit an infant carrier in the front seat. I have the other two child seats fitted in the rear seat but its going to be really tight to fit another one in the back safely.
Just wondered if anyone knew or had any ideas on this, cheers.

Ok so heres the story-

June 2006 - Sat. morning walk to car to get in for work and discover writing in pink lipstick all over the window, a heart drawn with an arrow through and my live in boyfriend of 5 years initials.

Nasty emails off and on throughout the rest of 2006..on myspace and no way to track them.

Dec. 31st/Jan. 1st- tires are slit on my new car so perfectly that they werent flat when i got in it, but blew out dangerously when i drove it. police took note of this and i told them about prior incidents.

Jan 2nd- hear a car door slam at 1:30 in the morning, so i run outside and see nothing, check my backup car (the one with slit tires is in the shop being safety checked), and now there another heart in lipstick all over the window.

Jan 3rd- boyfriend car gets a heart drawn on it in lipstick.

Cant figure out who it is, nobodys seen nothing, no tracks, no nothing. took pictures of everything and police wrote down incident with slashed tires.

What can i do?

I've committed to an annual MLK ski trip with a large group of friends only to find out today that my ride is with someone who drives an Audi S4 with performance tires and no tire chains. There is currently predicted a 30% to 40% chance of snow during the drive to the destination.

For reasons that I won't explain here, this ride is my only chance to take the trip.

Due to his summer only performance tires, if there is heavy snow we will become stuck, be forced to turn back by the highway patrol, or possibly crash.

Based on my experience with this drive, there's an 80% chance that nothing will happen and everything will be fine, but there's also a 20% chance of catastrophic failure.

Would you take the chance or cancel your attendance missing a trip that is likely to be fun and letting down the friends that are counting you to be there?

Ok people put on your thinking cap and see what safety slogans you can come up with for a tire factory. Good luck and have fun. Thanks
