I drive a Hyundai Elantra and it has many airbags ,one of which is in front of the passenger seat in the dashboard. I am a childminder who has to transport children in my car to various nurseries/ schools and I was wondering is there a way to switch off (temporarily) the airbag so I can fit an infant carrier in the front seat. I have the other two child seats fitted in the rear seat but its going to be really tight to fit another one in the back safely.
Just wondered if anyone knew or had any ideas on this, cheers.

Many cars (Renaults and Peugeots as examples) have switches, usually operated by the ignition key, to allow you to turn off the airbag so that a child in a child seat can be carried in the front.
Check your manual to see if your car has one (it may be hidden in the glovebox, or on one end of the dashboard where it can only be seen when the door is open). If it doesn't, check with your dealer to see if Hyundai have a dealer-fit switch option.
If there is no switch you will need to keep the children in the rear. Next time you change your car, look for one which has the switch.

Bear in mind that the passenger's side airbag, as well as the frontal airbag, may need to be disabled. Only the manufacturer will know this, as they will have carried out the necessary investigations when developing the car.

Some cars (06 mustang gt) have a sensor in the passengers seat that determines the weight of the passenger and turns off the passenger airbag if the weight is below minimum. Check in your manual to see if your does. If it doesn't say anything, contact the dealer. If it doesn't have that option but you still want airbag off taking out the airbag/srs fuse will disable the whole system which means yours will be disabled as well. Also, when you do that it will cause the airbag light to come on, not that it's gonna cause problems, but if you're gonna sell the car a shop will charge about 50 bux to turn it off.

you are right Miss. Zoozo
you cannot put an infant in the front seat, traffic police may fine you for that, apart from this, where is the safely of these kind.

I'm a 27 y/o father and if i saw my kid setting in the front seat like that i wont forget you.

regarding the airbag, go to the nearest maintenance centre of Hyundai they will fix it.

You can't turn it off. The manual for my airbag equipped vehicle recommends against putting child seats in the front.

I believe it is illegal to put an infant carseat in the front seat no matter what. It is in California anyways. Otherwise if your car does not have a switch to turn it off there is no way.
