There is no real evidence that pot smoking is a significant hazard for accidents. Alcohol wins all the prizes for that by a huge margin over all the illegal drugs combined.

Just FYI, some recent research shows that pot smokers may actually be safer on the road. The pot affects them but they are able to compensate for the effects. One example was a 1980 article done by Road and Track magazine called "Puff, the Dangerous Driver". They gave one group of drivers alcohol and they gave another group pot. The people drinking alcohol were quickly out of control and all over the course. The people smoking pot actually got slightly better at the course, even as the doses increased. Pot simply doesn't destroy coordination in the same way that alcohol does.

You can find a ton of references on the subject at http://druglibrary.org/schaffer It includes the largest government commission reports ever done, a big section on drugs and driving, and a bunch of other stuff.

One good place to start reading is the history of why marijuana was outlawed in the first place. It is a ridiculous story. It had nothing to do with accidents, health problems, or anything similar. You can find it at http://druglibrary.org/schaffer/Library/mj_outlawed.htm

Well my dear friend. smoking pot actually makes your concentration very high to the point that you might end up mis judging due to the fact that you are too confident you are doing the right thing. So I would say that smoking does cause accidents but the statistics based in regard to my Country (South Africa) Drinking and driving causes more accidents than Smoking the herb. There are very few accidents caused by Weed I would say.

That's a good question I'll have to get back to you on that. But I am sure it is less than when you are drunk, that is if you mean auto accidents.
