When folks come up behind my car while I am driving the legal limit, they act so angry, they want to exceed the speed limit, and they tailgate me - and this ofttimes includes those huge semis !! What to do ??? What would you do?? Know what will put the fear of God in them ??? Just turn on your flashers, and WATCH in your rear view mirror at how quickly they drop back. What do YOU do when the speeders tailgate you ????

I was in a fender bender this morning. I was driving to work behind this Mercedes suv when the lady driving it slowed down ubruptly. Her tail lights weren't working and I wasn't able to tell if she was braking or not. When I realized she was stopping it was too late. I skidded and bumped into the suv. Her suv was only scratched while my old honda's hood bent badly and rendered the hood latch useless.
When the cop showed up she kept blaming me for being asleep. I told the cop that her brake lights weren't working. He made the lady get on and press the brakes. As expected they did not illuminate. The cop told the lady that burned out tail lights cause these accidents and that she shouldn't be driving with the lights burned out. Thereafter he told us we could go. He didn't say anybody was at fault or anything.
What is your opinion? Am I at fault or the lady in the mercedes?

Yesterday I witnessed a small accident near my home. Although there were no injuries, one of the drivers was fairly traumatized and didn't turn off the car. I got in the car to turn it off, and breathed in some of the fumes from the airbag. For the rest of the day my throat was a bit sore and today I have a stomachache.
Does anyone know if breathing in the fumes from a detonated airbag is harmful? I was only in the car for less than ten seconds.

On a three lane road, I was making a right turn into the closest lane to me. The other driver was making a u-turn. The u-turn was legal. However, he u-turned into the farthest lane possible from his position. We collided, he damaged his front right bumper, and my front door joint was damaged making the door inoperative. Also, he was driving a Nissan Quest and insisted on it being impossible to turn into the closest or middle lane without touching the farthest lane. However, I saw a Nissan Armada turn into the middle lane and another car turning into the closest most lane simultaneously without any problem. So, who is at fault?

Okay.... so this morning on the way to work I came to a 3 way intersection where each side has a stop sign and the only traffic was me and a couple of cars coming from the opposite direction. The 1st car from the opposite direction was clearly stopped a second before me so I let it go. I started into my left hand turn when the car I let go was just pass the halfway point through the intersection when all of a sudden the 2nd car decided to attempt to blast through before me. I hit my gas pedal and lunged at the second car causing them to almost hit a telephone pole while avoiding me. Was I wrong?

A certain friend of mine was driving home last night at around 10:30p.m. after having a few drinks at the bar. The road to get to her neighborhood is unlit and usually empty, so she wasn't expecting anybody to be trying to cross at that hour. Unfortunately, when she was less than a mile from her neighborhood entrance, and figure briefly flashed in front of her headlights before falling onto the hood of the car and then disappearing underneath. My friend was so scared she couldn't think, so she just kept driving until she got home.
Today she is so scared that she may have hurt somebody, but she's also afraid that she'll be sentenced to prison because she was too scared to report it last night! She hasn't mentioned it to a soul yet! If she goes forward to the police now, will it still be considered a hit-and-run? Would it be better if she just stayed quiet and pray for that person? I want to give my friend the best advice, but I'm not sure what to say. Please respond!

California...a friend is changing lanes on the freeway to prepare to exit. She moves over to the right lane, (she thought safely) and was hit from behind by another car( bumper came off) this hit sends her spinning across the lanes to the left and she is again hit in the passenger rear door by a second vehicle. Whos at fault and who pays for which cars repairs.?

ok yesterday i was following this old lady who could barely see over the steering wheel. and i was in a hurry to get to the store to get myself some groceries. note: it was my day off, and i had others things to do that day. so as i was following her, she kept looking in her rear view mear, and was doing at least 5 mph under the speed limit. we came to a round about, and it was very congested, she stopped and had no clue what to do. i honked my horn, and she started acting like she was scared. i then honked again, and flashed my lights. and she drove her car right into the yield sign and another car hit her. so finally i was able to get past her, and she was blocking the whole lane. tere were people yelling at me, and the old lady was crying. i just dont understand why they let old people who are afraid to drive have their licenses/ it really annoys me. luckily i got to my destination in time, and was able to enjoy my day off, but she really made me mad. whats wrong with some people?

I know it is pretty much standard to get a 'following too closely' ticket if you rear end someone, but I am just wondering if anyone knows how likely they are to be thrown out in court given that it is just your word against nobody's. Here is the situation: First off the road was wet and the accident occured on a downhill slope and the condition of the road was poor. I was traveling in the right hand lane when a line of cars in front of me put their brake lights on. I apply my breaks and check my side veiw mirror to move into the left hand lane. I see nothing in my mirror so I quickly glance and notice a car in my blind spot. When I look back ahead the car in front of me abruptly changes lanes and the car in front of him is at a complete stop.
The person I hit says that the car in front of her just stopped because of a large hole in the road and she had to hit her brakes abruptly as well. I have a court date for 'following too closely'. Is telling this story sufficient to be acquite

Pardon my ignorance, I don't know the name of the
small plastic or metal thing-a-ma-jigs many people
purchase to keep from running over deer.

They are placed on the front of the car on the bumper, and
apparently make a noise which repels deer, which
prevents them from running toward the noise / highway.

Could someone shed some light on these things?
Parents have one, never hit a deer. Brother doesn't
have them, did hit a deer. Coincidence?

P.S. What is the name of these devices? Many thanks!
