For people living in cities with well-plowed roads, all-seasons are normally adequate. However, proper winter tires have better grip in snow, much better grip on ice, and retain flexibility at much lower temperatures than all-season tires. For unltimate winter safety, go with good winter tires on all 4 wheels, otherwise, keep the highest rates all-season tires with M&S rating on that you can afford. Never try to drive a winter with summer touring tires, you will be off the road at the forst snowflake.

Depends on what time of the year it is. In the winter, the winter tires are better. All the rest of the year the all season tires are best.

Where are you going to be driving? Florida or Alberta? Florida winter tires would be a waste of money. Alberta you need them.
