I'm trying to rent a car for tomorrow morning. Hertz, Avis, Budget...the big ones are completely booked online. I'm renting from an airport in San Jose. It's mind-boggling that those big 3 are completely booked with the sheer amount of cars in those lots. Anyone have an idea what the chances are of going to the actual lots themselves and asking at the counter for rentals? I called and was told to keep trying the online site. I don't have faith that cancellations, etc will show up on the site though. Ideas anyone?

Few if any will remember this.
But during world war 2 a method was devised to capture and use smoke from a wood fire on board vehicles in Europe.
No, not a steam engine. But some sort of engine similar to gasoline engines, but remade or designed to run on smoke.
I'm wondering with the cost of gasoline headed for $4.00 a gallon; if it wouldn't be practical now to reintroduce this machine.
If it will run on wood smoke, why not run it on trash?
Perhaps there exists a vehicle in a museum in Britain?

Is there a way to turn this diesel tank(Designed to hold diesel, not gas) into a gas tank. I have a flatbed truck and want this tank for its slim design and ruggidness. Have you ever used this tank. Do you like it? If there is another company that makes really slim tnaks, please give me a link!
Here is the tank:

Given the "consumer surge" from China, the prediction is that demand will not go down as cost of production goes up.

As of November 12, 2007, how much are you paying around the world as well as here in the US?

If you are not in the US, please convert to a price per US gallon. For uniformity, let's go with regular unleaded 87 oct rating.

Thanks.

I have a silver jeep and I recently scraped up against the garage on accidient. There are no dents, but there is some paint that looks like I can scrap it off. Is there a good way to do this without hurting the paint underneath? Any products that will help it or utensil that will safely remove the paint?

You know who I am talking about, those people who drive down the highway with their turn signal \ blinker on!

For one, they CANNOT SEE, or they would see that constant blinking reminder in their dashboard.

Also, they CANNOT HEAR, for these things make noise, click click click click click...

I think the cops should pull over these people and take their license, what do you think?

I have ordered a show plate for my husband's work van... are they illegal?? I have not changed the font of the number plate at all, just got a football badge to the left, and the background is the england flag....

Is he allowed to change these show plates for his original plates? Will he get points or a fine if he uses them??

We're PCSing and have to take our own vehicle. We need a car rooftop carrier to put our clothes in. We have a Toyota Sienna minivan. Where would we get a reasonably priced one? I'd like to have a hard one, but the soft-sided would be fine, too.

my car has 500bhp. i turned the traction control off because it's supposedly faster so from a dead stop I punched the accelerator and all the car did was fishtail for about 5 seconds and then i let go of the throttle and the car started to move. I thought the car with the traction control off was supposed to spin the tires momentarily till the car started to move... but the car never started to move what am I doing wrong? am I supposed to punch the accelerator and then let the tires spin for like 2 seconds let go of the accelerator, then let the tires catch and then punch the accelerator again?

I am going to Canada over on Dec. and I was told that my car would not work. So I was wondering what makes the cars in Canada different. Or what makes a car work here and not there. I know that the weather is one. I live in the South.
