my car has 500bhp. i turned the traction control off because it's supposedly faster so from a dead stop I punched the accelerator and all the car did was fishtail for about 5 seconds and then i let go of the throttle and the car started to move. I thought the car with the traction control off was supposed to spin the tires momentarily till the car started to move... but the car never started to move what am I doing wrong? am I supposed to punch the accelerator and then let the tires spin for like 2 seconds let go of the accelerator, then let the tires catch and then punch the accelerator again?

TCS or traction control system prevents your tires from spinning out so to speak, so that traction is always there. This prevents you front doing burnouts and that sorta thing. Since your car has a huge amount of power and is trying to deliver it entirely to the wheels, the tires cant cope and therefore slide...(causing it to spin out without make the car move)

Dragsters have special tires, which wrinkle the sidewalls and whatnot, they are also much much wider than standard tires, meaning more area to grip the road.

If you turn TCS off, flooring the pedal will not make the car launch faster, the trick is to control the throttle carefully enough to make the car launch as fast as possible, without causing it to spin out. Practice launching the car slowly first without tcs and then try speed it up... practice makes perfect...

Hope that helps.

Mostly because you don`t know how to control your foot. There is a point that allows you to just get the tires to spin slightly , anything more than that will let the tires spin out of control. The biggest problem you are having is a serious lack of experience. Traction control is to stop idiots from hurting themselves and others. Now of course ,can you back up your supposedly faster acceleration with cold hard facts. Not just your friend Billy bobs say so. Seeing as you can afford a fast car why not go to a racing school and take a course on how to not only go fast in a straight line, but what to do when you come to a corner, and "punch" the gas , and go flying into the ditch. Lot`s of money + lots of HP + lack of experience = an accident about to injure or kill someone

Trac control off will let the tires spin too much...leave it on if you want the tires to hook up. That's what it's designed for.
