1986 Honda Elite CH250 w/15,800 miles. Sometimes it fires right up in the morning, other times takes 4 - 8 licks on the start button.

Once it starts it runs fine. After running for 3 miles or so at 30-40 mph, it often won't restart for 25 or more minutes. No pattern detected.

Plug is clean and fairly new. Gas fine. It's getting so I don't trust it.

Something I can troubleshoot?

Hi. Is there an experianced motorctcle machanic who could give me some advise on this problem. Or better still. Lives near guildford that can sort the problem out at cost. The problem goes like this. It starts up ok. Tick over not all that. But wen i go to pull away. The revs drop and the bike then has to pick pick up speed to get going. And on top of this. The bike has no pwer or revs in the higher gears. For instance. The bike will not do over 60 mph and will not go over 8000 revs. But if i race it though the gears it will get to 90 mph and 10,000 revs in 5th gear. But as soon as i put it into 6th. the revs drop back to 6000 and the the speed drops to betwwen 60 and 70.

Left side will be using a high end caliper, whilst the right side will be using a lower end one.. Is this safe? Any danger of wheel locking?

Here is the link, if you wouldn't recommend these please give me a link to ones that you would prefer. They have to be in the same price range though. No more than $60.

I bought a 3 wheeler that was built for racing . Its a older model. A kawasaki KLC 200. Anyways i bought it as is. It had been sitting in there shed for a couple year but ran when they parked it they said. Anyways I orignally thought it had carb issues cause when i would put the gas into the motor and hold my hand over where the carb hooked up it wold start for a split second and die out. Which made since cause there was no carb hooked up. Anyways i tried it the other day and it will only start when it wants to when you place the gas into the motor. Someone told me it was out of time. Is there a way to check this? I dont know if this has anything to do with it but when you go to start it and it hits you have to turn the key off and back on for it to turn over the motor again. I want to fix it but dont want to pay a 100.00 a hour. Anyone have any ideas to check the timeing or have a idea whats wrong with it?

This is my first bike and I am learning a lot with it. I was wondering how to bleed the brakes, what is a good bleeder, and if someone could point me to a website or some reading material on how to put on new brake pads that would be awesome. I am learning how to do all of my own mechanical work and have taken one class here at college that taught me all the systems in a car. That is the extenct of my knowledge.

Without exception, whenever I'm on the road in my car and their's a bike nearby, the MUST weave in and out of traffic and rev their engines and take off at an exceedingly fast rate. Bikers, why do you suck at driving and why don't you drive safely?

Maybe it's because I live in the midwest that the riders only have a few months every year to ride and get excited, but with no exceptions, EVERY idiot on (crotch rockets mostly) a motorcycle has to hold in the clutch and rev up their bike. Do they think people think that's cool? Definitley NOT cool when they pull in to my neighbors house at 3AM!

I have a gas tank has been cleaned out but gas will not run from the tank to the carburetor. How do I get the valve under the tank to get the gas to run out? There is an on and a reserve tab. Is is possible to take the valve off the tank? It appears to be pressed into the tank.

Thanks for your help!

On an 2007 250cc Kawasaki ninja it says to do 500 miles staying under 4000rpm (35mph) the from 500 - 1000 miles staying under 6000 rpm
How important is this? I'm not thinking of running it at full speed or anything but is it bad to do the speed limit of say 45 or 55 when 35 is the rpm limit?

When I roll out of the throttle or down shift it wants to spit and back fire a lil. The spark plugs seem fine. Just to let you know if it helps its a 97 with a carb. Its only been doing this for about 3 or 4 weeks. Also if I leave the choke half out it does not do it at all. So if anyone knows anything that will help that would be great.I have to get it to stop bc the back fire is harmfull to the motor and it sounds bad lol. Thanks

Long story short, a friend owed me a little money, so he gave me a Honda CR250 that he got from someone that owed him money...

Anyway, 2 problems I see with it..

1. I can't kickstart it. The lever won't even budge.

2. If I put it in gear & then pull in the clutch, it is VERY hard to push. It should be easy to push if the clutch is releasing, right?

For the amount he owes me, I could part it out on eBay, but I'm curious about what's wrong with it & how much it would cost to get it to run again.

Thanks in advance !

I really want to purchase a Honda XR650 but i don't think it seats two... You can't just add pegs to it and have it street legal, can you? Any reccomendations for a 650cc or so onroad / off road dirt bike that seats two? I'll go as low as 400cc...

Twin Bike Engines (TBEs) are engines comprised of two regular I4 OEM bike engines linked through a common crankshaft. But my question is whether you could join the outputs of both into a gearbox that puts it into a common prop shaft. Would the vibration be intolerable? Would the gearbox be needlessly heavy? Otherwise, I see that as a practical solution to adding horsepowert to a light car or motorcycle.

1983 honda VT750C shadow motorcycle cranks and starts fine when engine is cold, but when fully warmed up the starter seems really strained to rotate engine and push through the compression stroke. It is worse on very hot days when engine runs hotter, it never overheats. It has never failed to start ,but sometimes I have had to release the starter button momentarily and push it again to get the engine to rotate and start. A local mechanic is trying to convince me that this normal for this model motorcycle. It has a new battery and very recent starter brushes replacement. Anybody familiar with this particular bike? Thanks

once it is warmed up and you shut it off it will not start, you have to open the throttle wide open and it takes a long time, but evenually will start. it was pumping a lot of gas into the carbs, so we got a carb kit for it and put that in and it didn't seem to help. any recommendations would be greatly appreciated Thanks!

Anyone know of a pre-assembled kit to convert my belt final to chain? 2006 FXD35 Superglide. I already planned on buying individual parts, but thought someone may have done it already. Belt finals are great for fair weather, but I ride year 'round. My rear pulley shows exessive wear from all the road crap I picked up. $155.00 for a stock replacement, about $1000.00 to have the dealer replace both pulleys and the belt. Not happening every 12K miles.
