I have a gas tank has been cleaned out but gas will not run from the tank to the carburetor. How do I get the valve under the tank to get the gas to run out? There is an on and a reserve tab. Is is possible to take the valve off the tank? It appears to be pressed into the tank.

Thanks for your help!

Early Hondas had a small filter attached to the petcock (the little valve on the gas tank. The filter sticks up into the tank to prevent any wayward particles (aka, crud) from traveling from the tank into the carburetors. This filter is probably clogged. You can clear it by removing the petcock, which is usually screwed into place--I'm not that familiar with the CB125, but the petcock is usually threaded, and has flats on it like a bolt. Obviously, you're going to have to remove the tank and drain it--use a closed container to hold the gas. If you can't get the petcock off, you can try a quick blast of air through the fuel line into the tank with the cap removed. This might dislodge the dirt. Also keep in mind that an empty gas tank is every bit as dangerous as a full one, as the fumes are extremely explosive. If you're not equipped to deal with the gasoline, take the bike to a shop that's familiar with early Hondas.

That is called a petcock (no lie!) It should be screwed into the bottom of the tank. It is likely rusted closed, which is why it will not flow any gas...

Id replace the petcock (should cost much, could get a part at a wrecking yard) rather than trying to fix/flush it out. And, Id put an inline fuel filter between the gas tank and the carb...

Good luck!

The petcock is bolted to the tank.
Remove the bolt/screw.
Remove the bowl on the bottom of the petcock to see how dirty it is.
The screen may be preventing the fuel from flowing.
