I have a noise, not very loud, can only hear it when you are sitting on the bike, coming from the engine cover on the right hand side, the one with the oil viewing glass on it.

(Bike is a suzuki bandit 600)

It is kind of like a tapping metal sound, it taps as fast as the engine turns, except you can only hear it at 1000 revs because of the exhaust.

Some other infomation:

-Its warming up quite quickly

-The tapping noise isnt usually there

-It seems to of been since i started it and the throttle was stuck so it revved very high from cold.

-I had starting problems the other day

Any help to what it could be is apreciated.

I am unable to ride the bike at the moment, so i can not test it out on the road.

Thanks guys.

Trying to trouble shoot my warped rotors. My dyna seems to drag its pads continually, (not under pressure) and is audible by adjacent fellow riders. I was told this normal for this type of caliper system, but my wifes identical bike does not have this problem. Of course she has stock wheels and I have the aftermarket wheels.

I'm a biker so I use ear plugs to prevent myself going deaf. The kind of plugs I'm using are E-A-Rsoft yellow squishies (the kind you'd find on the RS site). The idea is that they're squeezed, inserted into the ear, then they expand and block out noise.
Problem is they're really not easy to get in my ears. Most of the time the sausage is squished into a ball as insertion into the ear fails.
Maybe there's a certain position, an angle of attack for the plug, that's best suits the opening of an ear? Maybe there's an optimum shape for the squished plug to make insertion easier? Should it simply be squashed or squashed and twisted for extra plug firmness when inserting?

I am planning to buy an unregistered motorcycle tomorrow from a private party in California.

The seller says it was not registered because he planned to use it on closed racetracks only, but I'm not sure that is legit.

Does anyone know what extra steps are required to buy an unregistered vehicle, or if that is even a good idea?

Hi, I was working on my motorcycle when I broke a bolt off inside a stud on my bike frame. I went to the hardware store and purchased a screw extractor and a small drill bit. To make a long story short the small bit broke inside the bolt. The question of the day now is how do i still get the bolt out with the drill bit stuck inside of it? Any ideas?

I would like to start educating myself about motorcycles with the intent of purchasing a "beginner" bike to learn on before getting into something a little more substantial. I don't have much background in motorcycle or access to those who do so maybe somebody could offer some advice as to what I should be thinking about and the differences between a sport bike vs. a classic bike and how a beginner should approach this. Thanks.

The bike hasn't been running for a few years, it was running fine the last time i ran it. I had to drain all the fuel and oil for a move, just never started back up. Im getting fuel into the reserve tank but no fuel is coming out. I guess my question is does the fuel gravity feed to the fuel pump and is there soming inside the reserve tank that blocking the plumbing inside? I tried using compressed air to unblock anything, didn't help... OR does the fuel pump pull the fuel out of the tank, do i have a weak pump. Is there some sort of internal check valve that keeps the fuel from coming out,

I have read that in some states (including AR) any motorcycle under 250CC is considered a moped, thus not requiring a license/tags/insurance to drive.

I have read the AR state license law over and over and it states; Class M - Any motorcycle with displaces more than 250 cc's. Minimum age 16.

My question is this, does the Ninja 250 bypass this law altogether? I have hard of people getting mopeds to bypass a DUI causing them to lose there license, but would a ninja 250 do the same?

I have a 1996 Kawasaki 600. It has always been a very cold natured bike. I’ve always had to use the choke to start it, even on a warm day. I let it sit for about 4 months, then it wouldn’t start. I drained to tank and all the carbs(which were clean), as well as, changing all the spark plugs. I also used a carb cleaner in the new gas I put in it. The bike will run now, but only with the choke. What’s my next step?

I really want a gixxer 750 or a Duke monster but I seriously doubt thats possible. My last bike was around 740mm seat height and not to wide. I was happily flat footed on her but because the bigger bikes are usually alot wider i dont think i could go too much higher before im on tip-toes.
How much room does lowering a bike via the suspension or a custom seat actually give you?

My husband just bought a new Harley Davidson. He had one a long time ago, but hasn't ridden in about 20 years. I have no problem with the expense - his money, we can afford it - I am just nervous because he wants me to ride with him, and frankly, i'm afraid he will kill us both.

I have insisted on full-face helmets, but other than that, how can i steady my nerves?
