1984 virago 1000 carbs?

What is the best way to clean out the carbs on my bike?

Remove them from the bike (not an easy job).
Remove the float bowls and jets.
Spray carb cleaner through all the ports of the carbs and through the jets.

I just pour a quarter bottle STP gas additive into my full tank, and ride. Seems to help. Mine is a 1985 Virago 700.
