Well, I was just offered a slew of parts bikes (all Honda, btw), 3 of them not much more than gas tanks and frames but one of them was an '82 CB500 that looks like its all there and also another 500 that does have the engine and a good bit of parts but is a total basket case. Before I start wheelin' and dealin' with this fellow theres something I hope you guys might help me with, and I guess it's just the question in my subject heading. I know if you've got a kick start you can tell right of if the thing'll turn over, but if it has only an electric start is there anything I can wrench on and find out that way?

Ok i just bought the bike tonight and, of course i was really exicted about and couldnt wait to ride. unfortunally the previous owner lowered the bike with custom dog bones and the bike did GREAT when it was just me on it. But i put my old lady on and the tire rubbed the wheel well and burnt threw ( i didnt know) and of course got some wires also but they did not lose connection the only got frayed and touched each other. now it sounds like the bike is runing on 3 cyl now instead of 4 ( stalls at idle) and the speed and tach dont work. and when i tried to get it home it would shudder and stall. ok i seperated the wires and electrical taped them but still the same problem, could it have burned out the coil ( i checked the 30 amp fuse) or is there another fuse besides the one beside the seat im not seeing

I am looking into getting a '97 CBR 600 F3. According to these forums a 600 is wayyyy to much for a beginer. However, this bike is cheap, it looks great, and when I do become more comfortable I will have enough power to be happy with. On top of that I have been riding dirtbikes since i was a little kid (4-5yrs old) and I'm a bigger guy (250lbs). However a street bike is a lot different and I don't want to get in over my head. I needsome advice...

I have been told by some riders that pushing down on the handlebars and shifting your body weight from side to side works best. Other have told me that I shouldn't shift my weight at all and remain centered on the bike using the handlebars solely to direct the bike. Finally, I have been told that pressing your leg against the tank in the direction of the turn accompanied with pressure on the foot peg and using the handlebars all at once works best. I have tried every form and they all change the direction of the bike, but which form is truly the best and why? Also, if there is a better way than I have listed above, please inform me. Thanks.

Hi, I have bought this replica of a honda crf70 and the top speed is about 60-65mph, but I can't seem to get the front end to lift and do a wheelie without putting my feet down and leaning right back (form standstill). It has everything a crf70 has except from the engine which is a 90cc Loncin engine (apparently this is a honda licensed company). My friend that I go crossin with is always windin me up about as he has one of those 125 pit bike things. How can I improve my acceleration without spending too much money?
Thanks John.

Whats up!!
Ok. I added a performance exhaust and I plan on adding a K&N filter to it once I get to the end of my current air filter's life span. Can anyone reccomend any further performance or power enhancements short of buying a bigger bike? :)
Also, it is a honda 750 aero, incase that matters. Thanks tons.

See, I REALLY liked a bike that i saw, The yellow kawasaki ninja. Only $4,850. I'm gonna be 14 in the winter and i wanna start saving for it because everybody tells me that they wish they had started saving up for a car when they were my age. But I don't know what im going to do for the winter. The distance to school is only 5 miles (according to mapquest), so is it safe to ride only such a short distance?(i'll ride in my parent's car during snow). What should I plan for winter? How much is a 1/2 way decent used car usually? Like $8,000? I know there are going to be bikes like that in a couple of years, but i want to get at least 4,500 saved for one similar to that. So here is my questions are:

1.) Is it safe to ride only 5 miles in the winter on a bike?
2.) How much is a decent car that will get me through winter?
3.) there is a diner down the street, should i be a busboy?(7.15/hr, 4hr shift , 2 days a week, 4 weeks, over 4 months, over 2 years *7.15 x 256= 1,830)
