I have an '81 Honda CX500D motorcycle I would feel more comfortable riding if it were two inches lower. I have the shocks adjusted to their lowest setting and I cut 3" of foam out of the seat. I've talked to a few people about lowering the rear end and so far have gotten mostly negative responses about it because it is shaft driven. The bike won't have a heavier load weight than just myself (150 lbs.) and maybe a small bag. I don't know if I should use shorter shocks and springs, or if there is an adjustment kit for this model. Can anyone tell me if they've done it, how they did it, and what the result was? Thanks, Juli

Does the operation you have to have to become a motor cyclist hurt, and does it take long to get over? You know, the one where you have to have your brain removed.

I don't know how to do both, so if I go to a school to learn how to drive cars will it help ?
There are only schools that teach how to drive cars in my town , but there are no schools for riding motorcycles , It seems it is too easy for the rest of the people so there are no schools for it.
Or is it totally irrelevant and unrelatd and won't help me to learn how to ride ?

Are there other people in the whole wide world who think it is not a piece of cake ?
I have seen little boys do it . I saw girls and old people do it .
Yet I can't approach this horrible evil thing .
C'mon , ?
to change gears I need to let go of the gas , hold the clutch, and then use my foot to change gears , and yet I need to look at the road so as not to get killed ?
Who on earth can do that ?What am I ? a monkey ?
There must be something that everybody is hiding .
Shame on you all.

Don't get me wrong, I love my loud pipes (even though 99.5% of society thinks I'm an ******), but there's a certain dignity that goes along with quiet bikes. I know some knuckle-scraper will make fun of me for saying so (my guess is it will be that Bill guy whose entire life revolves around his Harley and his homoerotic lifestyle), but the sound of a BMW motorcycle is a refined work of art. That new BMW K bike that puts out 100 hp more than my Road King is as quiet as can be, and is a technological wonder. Do you think anybody would buy a quiet Harley, or would it defeat the whole "look at me" purpose of buying a Harley?

Before I resort to removing and cleaning my carbs does anyone know of a decent Carb Cleaning compound that I can just drop into a full tank of petrol. Preferably something that you KNOW to work. I've tried Redex - no good.

I have a 2003 Harley Davidson Heritage Softail and the speedometer is not showing the speed. Often it will come back and work but when I turn it off, then turn back on it will just stay on 0mph. I have gone to about 80mph and it will go up and down from maybe 20mph to 80mph.
