Ok i just bought the bike tonight and, of course i was really exicted about and couldnt wait to ride. unfortunally the previous owner lowered the bike with custom dog bones and the bike did GREAT when it was just me on it. But i put my old lady on and the tire rubbed the wheel well and burnt threw ( i didnt know) and of course got some wires also but they did not lose connection the only got frayed and touched each other. now it sounds like the bike is runing on 3 cyl now instead of 4 ( stalls at idle) and the speed and tach dont work. and when i tried to get it home it would shudder and stall. ok i seperated the wires and electrical taped them but still the same problem, could it have burned out the coil ( i checked the 30 amp fuse) or is there another fuse besides the one beside the seat im not seeing

Main fuse is built into starter solenoid. voltage regulator is built into alternator, just below carbs, left side.
You may have done some damage if fuse didn't blow, although it should have if things shorted out. The wiring to tail light should ground and blow lighting fuse. There is a fuse box with at least 6 fuses and a couple of spares although I cant remember location off hand, either under seat or sidepanels. It's a black plastic box, next to it is sidestand relay

just a thought, but i think you may have shorted the battery or the voltage regulator (if it has one ) check the bikes charging system it may be over charging or not charging at all?
