Motorcycles - February 2007

Seriously. This is a blunt question. How did each and every one of you here afford to buy one? Like what jobs do you have, how much do you make, and how long has it taken you to save up for one? 10 years??? Like I make $1000 (Canadian) a month, and most goes to bills! Its impossible to save anything. And then theres the motorcycle insurance you have to pay on top of it every month, which is about $156. But they're good on gas so you don't got to worry about that eh? Ok... so I've done some online looking, and for a decent low-end motorcycle it costs $5000. This really sucks.

I am about to work at a family owned (my family) new machine shop.
I guess wel have welding and some other fabing. But I want to start like fixing dirt bikes and atv's but I never went to school for it. Do I need to have a lisnece, or is that just to have the buyer think better?

I want to get a used sports bike for $3000. I just opened a bank account and have a job. I am only working so that i can get this motorcycle. I want to leave for military for 4 years in a few months and just want to ride this bike until i leave and pay if off using financial plan when i join for the military. I have no co-signer and know most lenders will not give me loan without credit history. All I want is to do payment plans on this bike with everything i make at my job which is about $800 to $1000 a month. I opened a bank account. Is there any place or way to get this loan as soon as possible instead of years.

I know that I've seen people get pulled over at Bike Week for having red or blue led lights on their bikes, but I'm wondering what colors are legal? Are white ones ok?

I have the original Dunlop 220 on it now and I need to replace it. The matching front is in good shape, but I'd like to get a stickier tire. Any ideas?

Don't you hate it when someone asks a question about bikes, and someone with no clue how to even start a bike, answers with something stupid about them being dangerous? Or someother crack ripping on riding. We know the dangers, we accept them and take many precautions. So stick to your car and leave our love alone. Who's with me?

I am a 21 year old female looking to get my first bike this spring. I am very athletic, 5'6", 130 lbs. My boyfriend has a bike and has been giving me some tips. Any suggestions on a bike? Preferably a cruiser. I drive a stick shift car so is learning to ride a motorcycle similar? Is it hard to learn how to drive it and shift the gears? Should I get a bike for under $1,000 to learn on, since I read most people will crash their bike while learning. Will I crash? Do you think it is too dangerous for me to learn? Help! Thanks!
