I am rebuilding an old bike (one of those 'get it out of my yard and you can have it' deals). It runs great now, but I need a left crankcase cover, handlebar controls (work, need replacing), a seat, and various other little details. I live near Utica, NY but will drive as far south as Cooperstown, north as far as Watertown, west as far Chittinango, and east as far as St Johnsville.
If you know of a good cycle scrapyard in or near this area, please respond. Also, if you have or know of a KZ1000, 1977 to 1985, for sale in parts or whole, please respond. you may e mail me at michaelsmaniacal at yahoo.com or just answer the question if you want the points. Thanks everyone!!

How do I go about getting it? What are my options? And what is the easiest, fastest, or best way to get it?

With all due sympathy to the biker, is this story not strangely satisfying?

Motorcyclist kills bear that ran in front of bike
Eau Claire - A motorcyclist hit a bear that darted out of a ditch, injuring himself and killing the bear, according to sheriff's officials.

Rescue crews responded to the crash on county Highway KK near the Beaver Creek Reserve north of Fall Creek about 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Eau Claire County sheriff's officials said.

"The bear was killed outright, and the motorcycle driver got some bumps and scrapes, but he's doing fine and he's very lucky," sheriff's Sgt. Steve Miescke said.

I just purchased a front end (ebay item 330022488788) from someone, and bought a frame also from him. It's supposed to link right up but I'm not sure how to mount the front end. I'm sure it need bearings in the top and bottom? Is that it? Am I missing something, or should this mount right up? Detailed help, is appreciated.

Because gas is so high I've been checking specs on motor scooters online. Honda, Suzuki, and Yamaha all have small scooters around $2500-3500, but I found some imports (150 cc engines) for $1000-1500. Are these garbage or will they last me a few years. I have been surprised before by buying a cheap lawn tractor that lasted 17 years and cost me almost nothing in repairs while friends bought more expensive ones with well known names that always needed repairs and lasted about half as long as my cheap one.

I have an older rat bike I'm trying to spiff up. Looking for old, out-of-stock items like seats, tanks, lights, suspension, etc, etc. New or used. Anyplace besides a Honda dealership. No luck there.
Currently searching eBay too. Thanks.
