With all due sympathy to the biker, is this story not strangely satisfying?

Motorcyclist kills bear that ran in front of bike
Eau Claire - A motorcyclist hit a bear that darted out of a ditch, injuring himself and killing the bear, according to sheriff's officials.

Rescue crews responded to the crash on county Highway KK near the Beaver Creek Reserve north of Fall Creek about 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Eau Claire County sheriff's officials said.

"The bear was killed outright, and the motorcycle driver got some bumps and scrapes, but he's doing fine and he's very lucky," sheriff's Sgt. Steve Miescke said.

Is Mercury still in retrograde or what? Why is everyone taking this the wrong way? I OF COURSE don't think it's great that there was an accident. Nor do I propose eradicating all the bears (well, maybe I do....). I'm not suggesting that all animals belong in cages instead of in the wild (what little is left to them), nor do I rejoice at road kill. I simply thought that, since there was a motorcycle collision with a large animal, it was a refreshing change that the ANIMAL died instead of the human. Perhaps poetic justice was the wrong tag line, but hey, I was operating with too little caffeine!

Oh, and I do indeed ride, and have been for over 10 years now. Haven't been down yet though (knock on everything)!

God bless our lucky, brave and alert motorcyclist brother. Poor grizzly, though, was not lucky enough. If only the grizzly too, had escaped with, maybe, some injuries, without hurting our human brother, who showed great alacrity and presence of mind, the event would have been more "poetic" ... Certainly, we are very glad, that "our brother, motor-cyclist," is doing fine, and we pray for his complete and quick recovery. Providence, indeed! Also, exemplary courage and heroism, from which other young men might take lesson. I can't help adding that the poor grizzly didn't get poetic or any other justice. He is also a fellow being, with no knowledge of roads and motorcycles. From the animal's point of view, the story cannot be said to be satisfying.

NO! Not satisfying at all! A bear was killed and a person riding a motorcycle was injured. I fail to see any satisfaction in this story at all. While it,s good the guy was not killed in the accident a bear was killed so it,s just a sad story if you ask me.

Ouch!

My boyfriend got hit in the forehead by a huge bug once on his motorcycle & said he almost passed out. He had to pull over for a while, till he quit seeing stars.

This guy REALLY has a story to tell!

p.s. I had a deer cross in front of my car one night, which I braked just in time to miss by inches. Then, a second one came right behind it, put it's head down & purposely ran into my door! That was strange. And stupid!

I live in Eau Claire, WI and have not heard this story... is it old?? My parents live about 5 miles away from where you are saying this bear was killed and I'm sure they would have said something about it. And why do you find this story so amusing?

What poetry? A dead bear that doesn't have the sense to stay off the road, because roads and motorcycles weren't invented when bears came to be?

You must not ride. There's nothing satisfying about hitting an animal with a motorcycle.

Hmmm? What? satisfying how? That the bear got killed for running out in front of the motorcyclist and causing his crash? I suppose....

How is that poetic? Did the bear deserve to die from a motorcycle? I don't think you know the meaning of "poetic" justice.
