I just purchased a front end (ebay item 330022488788) from someone, and bought a frame also from him. It's supposed to link right up but I'm not sure how to mount the front end. I'm sure it need bearings in the top and bottom? Is that it? Am I missing something, or should this mount right up? Detailed help, is appreciated.

Always give year, make, engine size and model # when asking questions. All steering stems need bearings. The guy you bought the parts from probably had them removed. This site might not have your bike. Look up 2000 Honda CB250 Steering Stem to get an idea of what they look like. Your frame should have a bearing "race" (#2) pressed into the top and bottom. They're smooth and chrome colored.

Hi, the shaft of the front end shouls be the same OD(outside diameter) as the ID(inside diameter as the hole in the frame. if it's not then you got took. yes, there are bearings, they will either be loose or in a retainer, but they fit on the top and the bottom. There is a race that the bearings roll in, then you have washers and a nut that fits on the top. There will be at least two of the post/holes, and on(as far as I know) newer bikes there will be three. bikes up to the 60's only had two. they whould just slip right in, no binding/a machined fit.

to answer your ? the shaft can not be the same diameter as the opening in the frame or the bearings would have no place to go. you probably didnt get takin at all. your just missing the bearings and bearing cups. if you are this confused as to what you are doing. i suggest you start out with a bicycle, it is the same principle. it would be much cheaper and also wont go fast enough to kill yourself or some one else when it falls apart .
