Maintenance & Repairs - July 2006

An oil & lube business found one black widow near the right rear tire, and three in the engine. They said the engine was covered with webs though, so there may have been more. They said they'd never seen so many black widows in on vehicle. One worker likened it to "Arachnophobia." They wouldn't work on the engine due to the potential safety risk. They recommended having a pest control company treat the truck. My husband says he can do it. (I hope this isn't dangerous.)

The truck has also had a wasp nest in it (with live wasp larve), which my sister found and disposed of. It was in the passenger door.

The truck is parked in a city driveway, and driven once a week. It's been driven about 400 miles in the last eight months. It's a 1990 Chevy with 72,000 miles on the original engine--all service done on time, of course. No, I'm not trying to sell it--ha ha!

The mercedes dealership is stating that the new ML350 oil consumption is normal to add oil every 3k,4k, 5k miles driven. The oil message indicates I need to check levels and add oil. I don't think that is normal as a vehicle should never have to add oil unless the engine is burning oil or there is a leak, righ?

This product claims a significant gas savings. You put it in your air intake between the air filter and the fuel injectors. I would like to find if someone has used it and what their experience has been.

The a/c blows air out the vents, but its not cold. What could be casing thios? If I have to take it to be fixed will it cost a lot? Also, if it costs a lot to repair, will it be because its a Honda or does it just cost a lot to repair the a/c? I took it to the repair shop, but the guy said he would have to use a dye to see if there was a laek, but that the test alone would cost $120! so I took my car out of there. Is that a normal price? I know, I know, too may questions, but I want to sell this car soon.

This is a 2002 Honda Accord, so not a very old car. I noticed this recently, when I drive slowly without pressing the break pedal, there is a squeaking sound that gets less or more fequent with speed. As soon as I apply the breaks, even very gently, the sound dissapears. The break pads do not seem to be very worn, but maybe I am misjudging this.

Funny thing is this guy is my sons step dad. He just bought this car and he told my son his car is faster. So now we want to race. So who do think will win? Aslo should I race him or not?
