I wouldn't recommend it. If you replace with another 5 and it blows it, you have a short somewhere. Replacing with a 10 amp will cause whatever is causing the short to overheat and possibly catch fire.

The only problem I could forsee would be possibly a surge to your radio... wich could damage it. The issue about a short and a fire is not a very reasonable concern as a "short" to a ground would blow a 10amp immediately as well. It is very common for after market radios to blow fuses if they have a higher power consumption than what the factory had installed. If this particular fuse continues to blow, you may have a short, but unless you are using telephone wire in your car for some reason any auto fuse should blow before a fire. You could also just have too much draw on that particular circiut in wich case installing a 10amp is actually the best solution next to lowing the amp load. It is definately better to use a 5 amp in case of a voltage irregularity that could damage equipment (your radio) rated at 5 amps.

It's possible that in a surge a 10 could allow enough amperage to damage certain electronics in the radio. You could do it, but I would put a 5 in as soon as you can. If it keeps blowing 5's then you have an internal problem in the radio. If it's the first time it's blown one, it's probably just due to the age of the old fuse.

YES! It would be terrible!
Fuses, like Secret Service agents, exist to Protect (in this case your wiring), and if necessary, to take the bullet.
To over-amp your circuit can result in Very Bad Things happening to your car.
Fuses are cheap. And expendable.

don't do it find why the first fuse blow or your are taking a chance doing more damage by putting a 10amp on a 5 amp fuse.
