The simplest answer is to take it to one of the major auto parts stores and ask them to check it for you. But if you have a multimeter handy you can test it yourself to see how much juice it is still putting out. The test at places like Advance Auto Parts.. are free.

I,m sure a lot of people will argue this but in my experience the ONLY good way to test a battery is with a hydrometer. This is a tester that draws up some of the acid from each cell and measure,s it,s specific gravity and will tell you if all the cells are good or not. However a lot of today's new cars have sealed batteries and you can not do this. A shop can measure the voltage and even do a load test on the battery and it could test fine today and go bad next week. When a battery goes bad it is almost always because one cell gets weak and you notice it cranking slowly and it often times happens with little or no warning. So if you have had any warning sign,s just go buy a new one and then you won,t have to worry.

Some auto parts stores (Autozone where I live) do a free diagnostics. They will even take it out your car for you, bench test it, to see if there is any problems with it. Just call around to the major parts stores and see.

If it's over 3 years old, just buy a new one.
You can take it to a shop and they can test it. Also most have a sticker on them telling how old they are.
