Your car will run poorly if it runs at all. The fact is that it is very difficult, if not almost impossible, for a timing chain to jump. It's more likely to break. The thing is basically like a heavy-duty double-wide bike chain. If it is stretched enough to jump, again your car will run like crap. The teeth on the timing sprockets can wear out and in some cases, they are made of plastic and they can strip off. It's a different story if yur car has a timing belt. They can jump. They also break or the teeth strip out of them. In either case, if a either a timing chain or a timing belt breaks, your engine will simply stop running. It may also be damaged when the pistons come up and hit the now out-of-sync or stopped valves, although many engines are designed with valve/piston clearance just in case the belt or chain breaks.

just take no 1 spark plug out,,and bring the distributor around to no 1,,when on a compression stroke,,and if they line up it,s ok,,if not then it has jumped timing,,you can turn the motor over slowly with a socket and watch the timing mark when it start,s to line up with the mark on the balancer,,i hope this help,s.

Put cylinder 1 at top dead center, then look at the timing mark. If it lines up it didn't jump.
