What's the right way to figure cost sharing in a car pool? It's my car, and I drive all the time. My rider rides about 100 miles/day with me. He's been paying about $6.50/day. That covers almost all of my fuel costs (I get 48 mpg) but to get that I had to buy a newer car, with car payments and a beefy maintenance schedule. What's appropriate and/or legal?

It would be due to the high price of gas which is now in the $3-$4 a gallon range for regular unleaded! I have done a lot more errands walking myself.

I am going to be moving pretty soon but I don't want to leave my job, which will be 30 minutes away from my new place. Anyone that commutes, is it really tiring? Please let me know, because everyone tells me it is a dumb idea.

Not counting bridges, why are there toll roads in other parts of the USA and not any in the western USA? It seems wierd to me, a person from CA, to have to pay a toll just for driving on flat roads.

People do you think that we are going to be so fortunate as to have the fuel to run around all the time in our cars. What about conserving. I have a neighbor that about every 15 mins they are driving someplace in their car. It makes no sense to me. According to reports that I have seen we in the United States are the biggest culprets on wasting fuel.

think about it... if we ride horses or bikes for our day to day chores... such as go to work.... go to school. ... go to the store and etc.. we can definitely save ourselves from pollution... oil crisis and we would definitely be in better shape... we only use motor vehicles to move big transports or fly from place to place.

Just really seems so thoughtless...such a simple thing to help everyone understand what is going to happen on the road.

Just another breakdown in common civility? Common sense?

I have a 2005 Pontiac Vibe. I drive it about 80 miles round trip 2-3 times per week. After each trip, I have pain in my mid-lower back.

I have explored new vehicles with lumbar support, but I'm not sure if that will really solve the issue.

Any suggestions on relieving back pain associated with an extended period of driving?

As a parent with small kids I am ever wary of cyclists who commonly it seems to me ride wherever the like. The road, the footpath, over the pedestrian crossing, through the red light, it doesn't matter, they seem to ride like they have mates high up who think that cyclists are more important than pedestrians. Cyclists to my observation rarely give signals and are often abusive if the pram gets in their way when they're taking a short cut along the footpath. Am I the only one who has noticed this?
