Is there anything good about high gas prices? Will they make people sell or scrap older gas guzzling cars, think about whether they need a big car, encourage people to cycle and walk more, encourage car makers to produce leaner more efficient cars to ensure sales are kept up?
Prices will never go back down, I had a range rover that never got more than 14 mpg, sold it now, I am looking at VWs and a Miata and thinking - why not?

Gas in most European countries is about $7.00 a gallon, so count your blessings.........and its all about supply and demand..The Economist magazine ran an interesting graph last month, showing Chinese industrial output and the price of oil.....surprise surprise the two lines were parallel..so factor not only mpg of SUVs, but all that stuff you buy at Wal MArt that says Made in China into the price of your gasoline......all that palstic came from somewhere, including the energy to make it and ship it here, and the answer is the same oil supply pool that gasoline comes from.....

It's way too cheap. American manufacturers have no incentive to build anything close to efficient, and Americans have no incentive to conserve. Three dollars was clearly not the magic bullet that caused a conservation movement. American car manufacurers are getting their assses handed to them by Japan. When fuel finally goes over four dollars and starts heading for five, the big American car will finally be a thing of the past. I can't wait.

I don't like it but i just go with the flow. It really sucks for me becasuse I deliver pizzas. Luckily my car gets 25-30 miles a gallon even just messing around town. But it kills me because I have to fill it up almost every day. That doesn't leave much in the way of tips...

Whatever...
I just go with the flow, I don't have any need to drive much anyway. It's one of those things you can talk about but have really no control over right now as far as lowering the price, all you can do is deal with it or try to conserve.

Well I would say it is "driving" me to the poor house but I can't afford the gas to go. SO..am going to dust off my old bicycle and get to peddling. And you can count on the prices to never go back down either..and that makes me quite angry. I suppose it will take us voters to get that "oil" baron out of the White House.

I'm in Australia and we pay about $6.00 a gallon, it disgusts me as we have some of the richest oil fields in world right here in our own back yard. I HATE OPEC!!!
Having said that, "oil is money". We can expect nothing less when we are in a situation where 80% of the worlds money is controlled by 20% of worlds population!!!

I'm thinking that people that still rely on a gas-powered vehicle to get around are funny.
