As many of the prior respondents have stated, most car companies are equipping their vehicles with "daytime running lights" that come on either when the car is started, or when the car is shifted into gear. also, if you haven't noticed, most states have laws requiring that motorcycles be driven with their headlights on...and, typically, your local school district and the local transit district both require their fleets to operate with headlights on day or night....

here in oregon, the state dept of transportation, ODOT, is running a campaign to encourage motorists to use their headlights during the day (since daytime running lights only started to become common with the 1992 model year) for safety

It is a safety feature in newer cars that the lights are on all the time while the car is running. I drive with my headlights on during the day so people see me easier. Don't worry about it.

First of all, a question leaps to my mind. Why have you made it your problem? Several other questions come to me as well. Why do you have to tell them? Do you think that you are the only one who knows their headlights are on during the day? Do you feel some deep-seated emotion that tells you that you are right and they are wrong? Do you have so few things going on in your life that you need to be the headlight monitor for all oncoming traffic? Are you in charge of nationwide automotive safety because of some error in paperwork? Get a grip. I swear to Jesus H. Christ on a Moped. Just because you shun study after study and dogmatically believe that headlights are for nighttime use only because your daddy used them only at night and your grandfather and great grandfather before him swore to God The Father Himself in a secret treehouse ceremony that they would never use headlights in daylight despite what they knew would be decades of research that would prove beyond doubt's shadow a reduction in crashes, and that as a result of these years of studies it would even become law in some countries to drive with your headlights on at all times is no reason to try to get us all to believe it as well. Thanks for listening. I hope you learned something.

Many newer automobiles have headlights that automatically come on during the day. They are called "driving lights."

Don't worry about it. Even if they're on by accident, it isn't your problem. No tragedy shall befall.

Those lights are called daytime running lights and they're supposed to be on. They appear on most newer model cars.

in some countries they are talking about making it law to have head lights on during the day as it helps oncoming vechicles to see the aproching vechicle, especially when its a motor cycle,i expect they are well aware they have there lights on,it is you who has the problem,so just get on with your jurney.
