think about it... if we ride horses or bikes for our day to day chores... such as go to work.... go to school. ... go to the store and etc.. we can definitely save ourselves from pollution... oil crisis and we would definitely be in better shape... we only use motor vehicles to move big transports or fly from place to place.

Too dangerous. Seriously, I'd ride a bike around if there were bike lanes, but biking is in the top ten list for most dangerous activities, not because riding a bike is inherently dangerous, but riding amongst zooming cars is. It's a shame that the government does not promote the implementation of bike lanes in major cities. Amsterdam for example has a wonderful set of bike lanes, with their own lights and turn-signals, and a good portion of the population regularly rides bikes safely to and from wherever they have to go. I think such a thing would go over well in New York, if the lanes were made and made in a way that the bikers were safe from cars.

Horses... now that is impractical, don't you think? Everyone would have to make them stand around for hours while they were at work.

I don't think I would like it very much. It would take too long to get where I'm going. It takes me almost 2 hours to visit my mom each week. I can only imagine how long that would take on a bike or a horse. What would I do if it was snowing or sleeting? I think I would pass out in this heat also. I must admit it's a nice thought though.

Who would watch the horse while I'm in clinicals for 7 hours? If I lived in town, I'd definitely ride my bike or at least ride the bus.

Traffic is so dangerous for bike riders...but I would switch to a bike in a heartbeat, if it were safer. Even older riders could use little motorized bikes: mopeds, Vespas, etc.

I think I want a turquoise Vespa, now that you mention it! But a regular bike would be nice, if it were safer to ride.

The reason why we don't use our bikes is that we are not in China. The reason why we don't use horses is that there is no room to place the horses.

I used the car because I have to drive more than 30 miles to go to work.

There are many cultures that do just that, getting use to that life style is more difficult than it seems. Some transit to work 1hr. ore better by car you can imagine how much more human power would be expended just getting to and from a job.I suggest expending that energy contemplating smaller changes (easier to make)in our every day lives to complete our transit (plan ahead, complete several tasks in one trip to town)or switch to a hybrid gas electric auto.

this is a good one,,i my self would consider it,,but common laws now forbid horses to be on certain roads,,as for bikes that would be a great idea,,one thing for sure,,we would save a lot of gas,,either way,,and who know,s before long we may have to go back the the horse and bike,,real good question.

I think it would be great. I walk everywhere now and use the bus for long distances. It would make earth a friendlier place to live and healthier too. People would be in better fit cause they would be excercising.
